                           ANTIQUES AND COLLECTABLES 4th Thursday 2:00 pm Curiosity, research,                          and informal presentations are shared on a variety of subjects such as

                         architecture, furniture, glassware, silver, art and home decoration.

 

                                JAZZ GROUP times flexible

                         This small group of jazz lovers will meet in one another’s homes to listen to                          recordings, or attend local clubs or festivals.

Victoria gems, some hidden, some not.

 

REEL CULTURE  As arranged

Calling all moviegoers!  Meet for theatre or home movies followed by coffee and conversation to analyze, reflect and critique the film. 

 

SIRIUS MUSIC 4^th Tuesday 1:30 pm                   

This group brings together members who, while interested primarily in classical music, want to explore the musical universe in a light-hearted manner.  

 

Symphony Group As arranged

Symphony lovers are invited to meet and enjoy a package of musical entertainment.

 

  READERS         BOOK CIRCLE Meets 3 times a year

Fewer than 20 books are circulated among group members on a three-week rotation.  At meetings book reviews are discussed in an informal manner.

 

DIVAS READ 3^rd Thursday 7:30 pm

An evening book club for  readers of fiction and non-fiction who read to learn and to understand life.  In-depth discussion follows presentation.

 

DURABLES BOOK CLUB 4^th Wednesday 1:30 pm 

This book club enjoys lively, good-humoured discussions of an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction.            

 

ECLECTIC READERS 2^nd Tuesday 1:30 pm

Enjoy lively discussions on books of assorted genre.  Monthly meetings are held in members’ homes.

 

MYSTERY BOOK CLUB 2^nd Tuesday 1:30 pm                

Lively discussions follow the reading of mystery novels. Books are traded and tips on good reads are exchanged.

 

MORE MYSTERIES   1^st Tuesday 1:30 pm

Members take a turn recommending mystery books. Each month a book is discussed and another one is recommended. Have fun discovering new authors.

 

NON-FICTION BOOK CLUB 1^st Wednesday 1:00 pm

“Non-fiction books” says it all.

 

NON-FICTION READERS 2^nd Wednesday 1:30 pm

Here is your opportunity to discuss books of your choice. New members welcome.

 

RANDOM READERS   2^nd Thursday 1:30 pm

No formal preparation is required for these avid readers to share in their love of literature.  Books and ideas are exchanged that cover a wide variety of topics.  

 

READ AND RAP 4^th Thursday 7:30 pm 

An eclectic group devoted to writings by or about women, accomplished,

neglected, eccentric or even rebellious, of any century.  Great fun.

 

WRITERS            CREATIVE WRITERS 4th Thursday 1:30 pm

Members read their work to the group in a supportive atmosphere. Resources are exchanged. Group work has been collected into chapbooks and an anthology.

 

GUIDED AUTOBIOGRAPHY 4th Wednesday 7:30 pm

We will reflect on, write and share our life stories. Limit of 6 people.

 

SENIOR SCRIBBLERS 3rd Thursday 1:30 pm.

Members of this group write for the pleasure it gives themselves and others. Some have published, others have no intention of doing so.

 

BRIDGE              BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS As arranged  

Bridge for beginners.

 

INTERMEDIATE BRIDGE Sunday 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Bridge played at an intermediate level. New members welcome.

 

MARATHON BRIDGE Times to be arranged. 

Previous bridge experience advantageous. New members needed.

 

SOCIAL BRIDGE Every Friday  2:00 pm

Enjoy strategies and socializing with like-minded ladies. Spares are welcome.

 

OUTDOOR         Brisk Walkers Every Tuesday 9:30 am (dogs optional)

ACTIVITIES         Enjoy a brisk walk once or twice weekly at a pace that would be considered a beneficial workout.

 

HIKING 3^rd Tuesday 9:00 am

Join our ‘rain or shine’ group for 4-5 hour hikes in our local area with elevation gains of 400-600 m.  We move at a steady pace but stop for views and flowers. 

 

Light hiking 1^st Tuesday 9:30 am

Enjoy 2-3 hour moderate paced hikes with occasional elevation. Members will take turns leading a hike in the Victoria area.

 

WALK ABOUT 3^rd Thursday 10:30 am

Spring through fall, members car pool to a designated countryside starting point.  Winter walks are in the city. The pace is pleasurable.

 

SOCIAL              COUPLES DINING IN 4^th Friday evening

Meet in members’ homes for an ethnic theme or random potluck dinners.  Socializing and good food are on the agenda.

Coffee parties for new members to meet and greet others.

 

STITCH AND CHAT 1^st Thursday 1:30 pm

Join this group to share in good conversation while working on individual needlework projects: knitting, crochet and embroidery.

 

WINE & APPY FUN NIGHT  3^rd Saturday 7:30 pm

Bring wine and your favorite ‘appy’. Singles and couples welcomed to get to know each other and share a great evening.

 

CULTURE/       AT THE GALLERY 4^th Wednesday 1:30 pm

LEARNING        This 'open program' group meets at the Victoria Art Gallery; a docent leads us                          through new and permanent exhibits. Annual membership is recommended.                                                  

                         CULTURAL AFFAIRS 4^th Wednesday 7:30 pm         

Participants attend plays, concerts, gallery displays and other cultural events.  On some occasions speakers are invited or book discussions are held.

 

Déjeuner Français 3^rd Monday 12:30 pm                

Members meet at different restaurants for French conversation. Bienvenue toute la gang. All levels welcome.

 

FAMILY HISTORY–GENEALOGY Last Monday 1:30 pm

Beginners and others welcome!  Members of the group are at various stages of compiling their family history and are willing to share their knowledge.

 

HERITAGE VICTORIA  1^st Friday 1:30 pm

Members meet at sites of historical significance in the area or in a home with a speaker who is cognizant of the city’s history.

 

ISSUES  3rd Friday 9:30 pm

This season we will be exploring topics related to First Nations in BC.

 

NIGHT OWLS Last Thursday 7:30 pm

Evening group meets for lectures, food and whatever takes our fancy. All welcome.

 

TRAVEL TIPS 4^th Tuesday 2:00 pm

Members present personal travel experiences or arrange a guest speaker. This year a cruise to the Caribbean is being organised.

 

INVESTING        CAPITAL INVESTORS 2nd Monday 7:00 pm

                        Our goal is to learn to invest in the stock market in a supportive environment. 

                        We invest monthly contributions using research-based methods.

 

                         MARKETWATCHERS INVESTMENT GROUP 1^st  Wed. 7:30 pm

                         The purpose of the group is to research stocks and investment vehicles and pool monthly contributions towards them. The emphasis is on learning.         

 

SHARECROPPERS 4^th Friday 10:00 am

This is an active investment group of ten members who pool monthly contributions towards stocks and other investment vehicles.

 

                                 STOCK CHATTER 1^st Thursday 1:30 pm

                        Members do not invest as a group but share information to enhance their                          learning and develop better investment strategies.
